Masturbation is the act of sexually stimulating one’s own genitals for sexual pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm. The act is done by a person to get sexual pleasure. Most adults do it due to a lack of partners or because their partners are unable to satisfy their sexual urges.
In the 18th century, the English word masturbation was introduced, based on the Latin verb masturbate, along with the slightly earlier onanism. To this very day, the Latin verb masturbari has an uncertain origin. Some suggested derivations include an untested word for penis, *mazdo, cognate with Greek mézea ‘genitals,’ or a corruption of an untested word for manu stuprare. Masturbation is the official name for this practice, but many other terms are used. There are many modern terms such as playing with yourself, pleasuring oneself, wanking, jerking off, fapping and freezing. In early modern times, self-abuse and self-pollution were common and are still found in modern dictionaries today. There are many other euphemisms and dysphemisms that describe masturbation.
What was masturbation like in pre-historic times?
In very early writings, masturbation has been mentioned and discussed as an art since prehistoric times. Many people in Europe called it “heinous”, “deplorable,” and “hideous” in the 18th and 19th centuries, but in the 20th century, these taboos generally went away. Masturbation has been discussed and depicted in increasing numbers in art, popular music, television, films, and literature. Today, religions have different views of masturbation. Some people think it’s a spiritually bad practice, some people think it’s not spiritually bad, and others think it’s a situational thing.
Taking a practical view on masturbation, it has become a common occurrence in both sexes and at any age. An idea of masturbation can arise from a desire for sexual release, and it can be caused by reading or viewing pornography, sexual fantasies, or other erotic stimuli. Pornography has been used in order to improve the experience of masturbating since the invention of print and broadcast media.
There is also a term called Mutual Masturbation. For sexual partners who are engaged in mutual masturbation, this may include manual stimulation of their genitals or a handjob. It may also be used as a form of non-penetrative sex.
Men were too protective of their semen during the biblical era and only viewed it as a tool used to procreate. Anything else than that was seen as taboo. The idea that it would take away virginity and make them less likely to get a good life partner made females more scared to do it. But with the changing times, people began to idolize masturbation and religious restrictions were eventually reduced with more exposure to western knowledge and sources. Nowadays, masturbation is becoming more popular as many youths are becoming open about it and discussing the matter in their circles. Most countries are against masturbation in public, and the legal status of it has varied over time.
What is the Bible’s opinion on masturbation for men
As I previously stated, during the biblical era, it was a sin and a taboo to pour out male sperm on the ground, which is considered as masturbation today. In the Book of Genesis, Judah, one of Jacob’s sons, told Onan, his son, to sleep with his brother’s widowed wife. Onan knew that the child would not be his, so he did not ejaculate into his brother’s wife. Instead, he spilled his sperm on the ground. This was what sparked the Most High God’s anger, and he was killed.
6 Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. 7 But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death.
8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfil your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death as well.
Genesis 38:6-10
By studying the sin of Onan, we can understand that he disobeyed his father Judah, who wanted him to have children with his late brother’s wife, since she was barren in those days. When Onan spilled his sperm on the ground and didn’t use it for procreation, he was killed because of it. This was how important the male sperm was to God, the one who made it.
After onan died, Judah was left with no other choice but to promise the widow of his first son, Tamar, that he would give her as a husband, his other son. When Judah reneged on his promise to give his son to Tamar as a husband, and she was still barren, Tamar took matters into her hands and disguised as a prostitute and made Judah sleep with her.
11 Judah then said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Live as a widow in your father’s household until my son Shelah grows up.” For he thought, “He may die too, just like his brothers.” So, Tamar went to live in her father’s household.
12 After a long time, Judah’s wife, the daughter of Shua, died. When Judah had recovered from his grief, he went up to Timnah, to the men who were shearing his sheep, and his friend Hirah the Adullamite went with him.
13 When Tamar was told, “Your father-in-law is on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep,” 14 she took off her widow’s clothes, covered herself with a veil to disguise herself, and then sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had now grown up, she had not been given to him as his wife.
15 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. 16 Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went over to her by the roadside and said, “Come now, let me sleep with you.”
“And what will you give me to sleep with you?” she asked.
17 “I’ll send you a young goat from my flock,” he said.
“Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?” she asked.
18 He said, “What pledge should I give you?”
“Your seal and its cord, and the staff in your hand,” she answered. So, he gave them to her and slept with her, and she became pregnant by him. 19 After she left, she took off her veil and put on her widow’s clothes again.
Genesis 38:11-19
What we can understand from this verse is that Judah first committed a sin by sleeping with a prostitute by the roadside. Contrary to popular beliefs, Judah maintained his values and did not spill out his semen, even when he thought he was sleeping with a prostitute. This was what resulted in the pregnancy of Tamar, who was disguised as the prostitute.
20 Meanwhile, Judah sent the young goat by his friend the Adullamite in order to get his pledge back from the woman, but he did not find her. 21 He asked the men who lived there, “Where is the shrine prostitute who was beside the road at Enaim?”
“There hasn’t been any shrine prostitute here,” they said.
22 So he went back to Judah and said, “I didn’t find her. Besides, the men who lived there said, ‘There hasn’t been any shrine prostitute here.’”
23 Then Judah said, “Let her keep what she has, or we will become a laughingstock. After all, I did send her this young goat, but you didn’t find her.”
24 About three months later, Judah was told, “Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result, she is now pregnant.”
Judah said, “Bring her out and have her burned to death!”
25 As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. “I am pregnant by the man who owns these,” she said. And she added, “See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are.”
26 Judah recognized them and said, “She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn’t give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not sleep with her again.
Genesis 38:20-26
The ironic twist of fate given to Tamar was that Judah knew of his sins and accepted the full responsibility for the child because he did not fulfil his promise to Tamar by giving her his son as her husband.
There are other bible verses that clearly depict masturbation as a form of uncleanliness. The book of Leviticus gives us a proper explanation of how God described masturbation to Moses.
16 “‘When a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his whole body with water, and he will be unclean until evening. 17 Any clothing or leather that has semen on it must be washed with water, and it will be unclean until evening. 18 When a man has sexual relations with a woman and there is an emission of semen, both of them must bathe with water, and they will be unclean until evening.
Leviticus 15:16
In the book of Deuteronomy, God explained the issue related to masturbation.
“If there is among you any man who is unclean because of a nocturnal emission, then he must go outside the camp; he may not re-enter the camp.
Deuteronomy 23:10
Wikipedia states that a nocturnal emission is informally known as a wet dream, sex dream, nightfall, or sleep orgasm. It is a spontaneous orgasm that happens while you’re sleeping and includes ejaculation for a male or vaginal wetness or an orgasm for a female.
The male semen and its divine purpose
When the world was created, God gave a clear directive to man to continue his work on earth by having children who would fill and multiply the earth. The fact that we are created in God’s image means that we are to be fruitful in a creative way. Often, this is referred to as a mandate to procreate. God created a perfect world, and then created people to continue his creation project. By being fruitful, we will be blessed by the authority of the Most High God. It is for this reason that God told the first man and woman, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.’’
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Genesis 1:28
This statement from God does not diminish his usefulness. God could have made everything and filled the earth himself. He, however, chose to allow humanity to work alongside him in order to accomplish his goal of bringing good fruits that will serve his purpose on earth. I find it remarkable that God trusts us to carry out this incredible task of building on the good earth he has given us. The only way that man can procreate a good seed is by not abusing the male semen through masturbation. This is God’s mandate for the world.

Regardless of the benefits medical practitioners or any other government ran agencies might sell you, masturbation is a sin in the eyes of God, especially for men. It is important for many men to understand that your sperm is a source of strength given by God to be used for procreation. Male sperm is a distinguishing feature that distinguishes a man from a woman in that it is the first step towards the creation of another life. This is why the sperm donor industry is so lucrative. In America, the cost of a vial of sperm ranges from $400 to $2,000. Without the male sperm, no woman can become pregnant. It is for this reason that men who cannot impregnate a woman are viewed as less desirable than other men who can. The first step to wisdom is to understand that there are forces of darkness who know how powerful the male sperm is, and this is why they have made us think that it is okay to abuse the male sperm. This article will provide further information about the power of male semen and the forces of darkness that are attempting to destroy it.
Satan is behind the concept of masturbation or the destruction of the male semen
God’s instruction on procreation is against man-made ideologies of masturbation, planned parenthood or depopulation. Through the righteous channel of marriage, God intends for humanity to have more children so that we can create more seeds that will do his will on earth. Satan, knowing the plan of God for humanity, intends to depopulate the world in order to have full control over the few. From these two statements, we can see that the Most High God is in favour of having more children, while Satan is against the idea of having more children.

If you look at the world today, you can see that Satan’s plan is in full swing to stop God’s plan for humans to be fruitful and multiply the earth. This is why masturbation is thought of as a health benefit instead of a sin. It is for this reason that many medical practitioners will lie to you that masturbation is good for the body, when in fact it is an insult to God’s directive of procreation. There is nothing hidden under the sun any more. A man’s addiction to masturbation thwarts his idea of procreation. It is becoming a norm in this generation that some married men prefer masturbation to sex with their wives because of marital instability and a heavy influence of pornographic content.
How Satan uses pornography to promote masturbation in men
On the other hand, the porn industry is thriving. Since the internet made pornography available to everyone, Porn has been used to promote the idea of masturbation. Over the past few years, the fanbase has grown steadily, and it is worth mentioning that the number has spiked drastically, since the Pandemic in 2020 saw the availability of entertainment choices turn limited.
Every 60 seconds, approximately 2.5 million people visit the world’s most popular porn sites. More than 28,000 users watch porn sites every second! Pornhub alone gets 135,000 visitors a minute. The U.S. is home to about 40 million regular porn users. This number demonstrates how lustful desires can be used to create a sinful agenda in humans, since we know that the human mind is easily influenced by the desires of the flesh.
It is harmful to the human mind to consume too many pornographic contents, as it can make one want to do what they see. The motivation for men to indulge in their desires is to fulfil what is captured in their thoughts. Engaging in masturbation is the fastest way to actualize the thought from pornographic content. This is how Satan leads people to commit sins. Pornography is a tool used by Satan to influence people to engage in masturbation because there are people who got addicted to masturbation as a result of consuming too much pornographic content. It was for this reason that the porn industry was created. It not only leads men to commit sexual immorality, but it also leads men to abuse their most valuable asset, their semen.
Satan, master of confusion, creates problems in order to come up with solutions. When people begin to understand that the solution was not created to solve the problem, but that the problem was created in order for the solution to be rolled out into the system, then you will begin to understand the magnitude of the evil agenda

Other man-made barriers that prevent procreation
Make no mistake, Satan, who is the enemy of anything good, has other ways off his sleeves to thwart the plan of God for humanity. In addition to masturbation, Satan has other methods to discourage procreation:
- Abortion (The killing of innocent babies is totally against God’s plan for procreation)
- Birth control options such as male and female condoms, contraceptive implant, injections, pills etc…
- Due to difficult economic times, parents are discouraged from having children.
- Feminism in females (this pattern makes feminists see the need to not have children because of how they see men in the society)
- Difficult working conditions make it hard for couples to have a family.
- Marriage instability
- The normalization of homosexuality and lesbianism, which means that men and women will no longer have children due to their unnatural choices.
- The one child policy ( As a method to reduce the human population, many countries such as China, Japan, Turkey, India have adopted various methods and incentives aimed at limiting the number of children a parent can have)
Today, many people believe that having too many children is too much of a burden. Satan’s agenda to decrease the human population has led to the rise of abortion in America and other countries. From a scriptural perspective, pagan nations sacrificed their children to Molech in order to gain fortune, and the same thing is happening today, disguised as planned abortion. It’s no surprise that God told his people not to do what the pagans did by giving their children to molech. This is proof that God values the life of every child more than Satan does.
21 “‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.
Leviticus 18:21
The stringent system put in place by the world government has made it undesirable for parents to have children. Since the current economic climate is so harsh, many parents would prefer to have fewer children or have no children at all. Some reasons for this are tough working conditions, a tough economy, a high cost of living, and the lack of free medical care. Many parents have abandoned the idea of having children and instead focus on other things like their careers.
Let’s look at America as an example. Did you know that due to higher inflation, a middle-income married family with two children will now have to spend a minimum of $26,011 more to raise a child to the age of 17.
Unlike other advanced nations, the United States provides far less assistance in the form of child allowances, child care, pre-K, and paid family leave, which makes prospective parents face potential financial trade-offs. These tradeoffs can be difficult to make for those who don’t have resources, and they have made it difficult for couples to have children.
My Conclusion
We can see from the bible passages in this article that God is against the idea of men spilling their semen during sex. Since men are used as tools by God for the creation of new life on earth, they are his valuable asset. Adam is considered to be the first man to be fruitful and multiply on the earth. And the Bible tells us that Satan tried to kill all the descendants of Adam, which led to the unfortunate death of Abel. However, he was unable to stop the descendants of Seth.
Satan knows what God meant when he said to be fruitful and multiply on the earth. Only by making men lust after the idea of abusing their semen can Satan stop men from being fruitful in the eyes of God. In addition to stopping them from having children, this would make a mockery of their most important God-given asset: their semen.
One important point to keep in mind from this article is that God did not introduce marriage for the purpose of sexual relations or companionship, but rather for married couples to bear Godly fruits who will go on and multiply in the Earth. In order to bear good fruits, sex only becomes right in the eyes of God when it is done between married couples. Children who are born out of wedlock are unlikely to be good fruits because, on many occasions, their parents are often in a state of conflict. This is why the devil is fond of getting involved in the life of a child who doesn’t have their father’s protection.
The book of Malachi should provide us with a clear idea of the importance of marriage and bearing good fruits, which we can see.
13 Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer looks with favour on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. 14 You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.
15 Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.[d] So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.
16 “The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,” says the Lord Almighty.
So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.

Another point worth considering is that it is important to realize that you are not alone when you masturbate. The demons that are invisible to the human eye are ordered by Satan to take control of your sperm. Eventually, people become addicted to masturbation because of this reason.
In my opinion, you must understand that the strength of a man lies in the semen on his loins. Do you ever wonder why men lose so much energy after ejaculation? It is because the male semen contains instructions that God gave to man to continue his work by being fruitful and multiplying the earth. That instruction comes with a lot of responsibility, which is why the male body acts in that manner after ejaculation
In the last words of Jacob to his son Reuben, he refers to him as his might and his beginning of strength.
“Reuben, you are my firstborn,
Genesis 49: 3-4
my might, the first sign of my strength,
excelling in honor, excelling in power.
4 Turbulent as the waters, you will no longer excel,
for you went up onto your father’s bed,
onto my couch and defiled it.
God, in his infinite wisdom, gifted humans the ability and responsibility to assist him in the creation of pious seeds by the method of procreation. Having that ability comes with a massive responsibility. Two of God’s most important tools are the male semen and the female ovum. They depend on each other for their success. In the same way that man and woman were destined not to be separated, so are the male semen and female ovum. When they unite in the female reproductive system, God’s divine work has officially started. This is what leads to the process of reproduction. As God intended, the male semen is visible to the human eye, but the female egg isn’t. This is what makes male semen unique, so it should not be abused.
You are committing a sin against God when you abuse your semen by masturbating, which is degrading the divine responsibility given to man by God. I end this article by humbly asking the Most High God to give the correct understanding and divine assistance to anyone who reads this article.
