We had a life before Covid-19 Pandemic

The Covid-19 Pandemic has resulted to stay at home and Social Distancing in Public Places with no sight of the virus slowing down.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, do you remember how free you were? Do you recall the times you spent with friends and family undisturbed with so much joy and happiness? Do you miss the delightful times of being close to the world? Do you miss watching football, for those of you who are sports lovers? Do you also miss Friday nights with your friends talking about work and life in general? What about having a cup of coffee in your favourite coffee shop? Would you do anything to experience that moment again? I know bringing up these desires will not help bring back the good times we once had before the Covid-19 pandemic, it is with deep sadness that I say that most of us once these at our mercy before Covid-19.

As the world continues to battle the Covid-19 Pandemic, the preventive measures been put in place by world authorities have developed an unbalanced social order. To combat the spread of the virus, majority of affected countries have chosen a total lock down while some opted for a curfew. I wake up every morning looking outside my window, all I identify is deserted streets, filled with fewer human activities, and it flings me into a depressive state. Staying at home and Social distancing seems to remain the order of the day, which means no one is allowed to mingle with friends in public or a private space due to a large gathering. I keep asking myself, will life be healthy again, how would we respond to these unsocial measures when the pandemic is entirely over, are we ever going to remain the same?

Come to think of it, what is life when people cannot socialize. Socialization represents a human characteristic, and if humans fail to socialize, it creates a vacuum of emptiness in us, which then turns to a mental disorder. May I remind you that it is hitherto on record that so many people around the world are currently depressed because of the stay at home measure been encouraged by the government.

Every so often, we take many things for granted; if only we knew that Covid-19 would be this bad, we would have appreciated the freedom we formerly had. Excuse my ignorance, but maybe this was intended to enlighten us to appreciate the freedom of choice we were privileged to get. Some of us complain about our jobs. We hate that colleague so much that they seem to be the reason we hate going to work. Funny how that same job we hate might no longer be available as so many companies are on the verge of shutting down.

Some of us never appreciate the beauty of going out to grasp nature or even visit friends. We end up postponing or ignoring because we enjoy our secluded space. We forget our creator gave us the privilege to be part of nature; we no longer have the freedom we used to have because it has been taking away from us by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 Pandemic shows no signs of slowing down, which means that our freedom will have to be postponed further until the foreseeable future. If there is anything that covid-19 has taught us is that it has made us recognize the importance of freedom we never once appreciated. I know that someday the Covid-19 Pandemic will come to an end, what would you start doing when it’s over or better still, what changes will you make? The choice is yours. As always, it’s my opinion.
