As a history student, I’ve struggled with the dark chapters of racial segregation, where people were judged and discriminated against solely because of their skin color.

This injustice set off a personal quest to discover the causes of prejudice. I made the deliberate decision to alter my viewpoint after realizing through introspection that it is unacceptable to hold prejudices.

When you encounter prejudice directly, however, it can be difficult. You are assumed to be a certain religion, nationality, social status, and skin color. It’s humble, but it made me more determined. I came to see that people frequently lash out because of perceived threats or unfulfilled expectations.

Nobody is born with hatred, and let’s face it, our world is difficult. Hatred is an ingrained behaviour that is not going away anytime soon. So why bother trying to please everyone all the time? You cannot change people’s deep-seated biases, so don’t waste your time. Instead, accept who you are and let the community adjust.

Hatred will persist as long as humans exist on Earth. But I believe that people consumed by hatred and malice will never find inner peace. They will be perpetually lonely and unhappy, trapped in their own negativity.
